Our Review: The Buddy-Croc Comedy
Mango is an alligator who has just been partnered with a new partner, Brash as an investi-gator duo who works for a secret organization called S.U.I.T.S, solving crimes and keeping the world safe. For their first mission, they must investigate the disappearance of a world-class baker and an explosion at a science convention to figure out how the two are connected.
We really like this book! There are a lot of fourth-wall breaking moments that made us laugh out loud, like when the head of the department said, “eighteen pages ago,” instead of eighteen minutes ago. Both Mango and Brash are funny in their own way, Brash is the titular ‘James Bond’ type hero and Mango is absolutely the comic relief but they work well together. The side story about the helicopter was weird but amusing enough not to frustrate us too much when it took away from the main story.
At the end of the book, there was an activity page teaching kids how to draw Mango and Brash, another activity relevant to the story, and a diagram of S.U.I.T.s HQ.
We highly recommend this graphic novel series.
