I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916 by Lauren Tarshis

Review: We read the graphic novel of this book and it was fantastic (as is to be expected of the I Survived series). If you've never read an I Survived book, they are a series of books intending to teach children (middle grade and up) about historical events by writing a fictional character who lived through them.

This was LittleMan's first book in this series and though it was bloody and had a slow start he really enjoyed it and wants to try others in the graphic novel series. I would definitely recommend this for older middle grade ages because of the violence.

Blurb:

Chet Roscow is finally feeling at home in Elm Hills, New Jersey. He has a job with his uncle Jerry at the local diner, three great friends, and the perfect summertime destination: cool, refreshing Matawan Creek.

But Chet's summer is interrupted by shocking news. A great white shark has been attacking swimmers along the Jersey shore, not far from Elm Hills. Everyone in town is talking about it. So when Chet sees something in the creek, he's sure it's his imagination...until he comes face-to-face with a bloodthirsty shark!
