HTTYD 4: How to Cheat a Dragon’s Curse by Cressida Cowell
Review: After the third book (See note at the bottom of this review) we were hesitant to try the fourth book in the series. I’m glad we did. How to Train Your Dragon 4 turned out to be our favorite (so far) of the entire series! How to Cheat a Dragon’s Curse had laugh out loud moments, sarcastic dragons, peril without the gore, and a Christmas theme complete with a hockey game and a sleigh pulling saber-tooth dragon! We were so glad to see the return of the fun and humorous story we’ve grown to love!
We recommend the audiobook, narrated by David Tennant. You miss the illustrations but the narration is just fantastic!
Important note: We have only read the audiobooks so we have not seen any of the illustrations in the series and cannot comment on their appropriateness.
Tip: if you want the illustrations, you could always purchase HTTYD: The Complete Book of Dragons: A Guide to Dragon Species (We did and we love it). This has all of the dragon illustrations from the series. We’ve included a link below!
Important note 2: We did not finish the third book in this series. Check the note below for more information.
Blurb:
Reluctant hero Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III must rescue his best friend, Fishlegs, from the deadly disease Vorpentitis. The only cure is rare and almost impossible to find...a potato. But where will Hiccup find such a thing? He'll have to dodge the terrible Sharkworms, battle Doomfangs, and outwit crazy Hooligans if he's going to be a Hero. Again.

Possibly Concerning Content (Spoilers ahead!)
Language: None but there is name calling. A Viking is named ‘Big Boobied Bertha’ and the ad asks, “will those boobies continue to go undefeated?”
Romance: None
Violence: Not as much as the other books. There are no deaths in this book.
Magic: Old Wrinkly, the Soothsayer is mentioned having ‘looking into the future.’ He consults the gods and gives out medicines that “may or may not cure you.”
Other: They pray to Thor and believe their prayers are answered.
Important Note About Book 3
We did not finish the third book (How to Speak Dragonese). We were uncomfortable with the Romans in the book who ate baby dragons alive and cooked and ate other dragons as well as the appearance of a dragon that claimed to be a 'living god' that could be summoned by saying his name. As a result, we DNF.
