Our Review: 'One Two Princes Kneel Before You.'
I hummed Two Princes by Spin Doctors for most of this book. It's the perfect song. “Happily-ever afters, the real kind, almost never happen easily or without a few dragons getting in the way.” - Quote
There may not be any real dragons in Emma St. Clair’s Royally Re-Arranged but there are plenty of metaphorical dragons trying to keep the two main characters from their happily ever after. Serafina has known her entire life that she’s going to marry her best friend Prince Callum, which is great as she’s been in love with him for as long as she can remember. Too bad no one told Callum. When she shows up in his kingdom to surprise him, he surprises her instead with an American girlfriend and no intention of holding up their family’s agreement. With her coronation looming, she’ll have to convince Callum to marry her, or find someone with a title or risk having her people dissolve the monarchy. Enter Rafe, Duke of Weldon who has loved Serafina from afar since they were children. And he’s got a plan. Date him so that Callum will be jealous enough to realize he wants to be with Serafina. Unfortunately for her, the plan is working, but she’s no longer sure she wants the Prince when the Duke is igniting feeling in Sera that Callum never did.
This was such a good story! I was slightly put off by the first chapter from the male POV being about them in the future with their daughter. Instead of ‘will they get together?’ It’s more of a ‘how did they get together’ but it did remove some of the tension in the book. I felt so bad for Rafe and there were time I wanted to smack Sera but the romance was just perfect! I loved them both as well as her female best friend, Kat and the side romance she had. All of the characters were well developed.
It was a relatively quick read but I’m eager to read the second one about Prince Phillip, Callum’s older brother.

❤️ Q: Is there a romance in Royally Re-Arranged? A: Yes! The romance has passionate kisses but it stays closed door. There are some neck kisses but hands stay in appropriate places (though she wishes for more a handful of times).
🛡️Q: What kind of violence is there in Royally Re-Arranged?
A: An uncle is emotionally abusing and manipulating his minor nephew.

Rafe's uncle emotionally abuses him as a minor, telling him he's worthless, that his parents, who have passed, are disapointed in him, etc. He locks him in dark cupboards and closets as a form of punishment. This continues until he's an adult where the shoving him in closests stops but the emotional manipulation continues.
‼️ Q: Are there any heavy themes, scary moments, or touchy subjects in Royally Re-Arranged?
A: Yes, a character goes to therapy (portrayed as a good thing) and there is deaths of loved ones in the past.

Because of the emotional manipulation and abuse, Rafe has a nervous breakdown in the army and accidentally hurts someone. He is put into therapy and he says it was the best thing for him and he's proud of how far he's come with the therapists help.
His parents died when he was young.
