Review

Born with legs in a world of mer, Locklyn spends her days as a shepherdess for dugongs (with her trusty pet dolphin) and her evenings with her brother's family, including her handsome brother-in-law, Darian. But when Darian is given an impossible task to hunt for a dangerous treasure, Locklyn isn't about to let him go alone. It's a race against time to prevent a war, break a curse, and hopefully make it out alive.

I'm not a big fan of mermaid/human relationships because, inevitably, they will have to choose either the land or sea so I was very excited to come across a mermaid/merman romance instead! I absolutely devoured this book! The world-building is so well done and I loved all the characters! I need a pet dolphin and a dugong herd! I did kinda wish the plot had stuck more with the premise/blurb, as it moved away from the niece with legs pretty quickly to go on the treasure hunting adventure but the book was still great.

"Locklyn Adair has never fit in. The legs she inherited as a result of her great-great-grandmother’s curse make it impossible for her to belong under the sea. When her niece is also born without a tail, Locklyn is determined to save her from similar rejection by sending her to the only place in the Undersea Realm where legs are acceptable—the Lost Island of Atlantis.

Darin Aalto would do anything to protect his family, even spearheading an impossible quest to find treasure that has been lost for over a hundred years. But when his best friend, Locklyn, joins his crew, his ability to keep her safe—and his shot at winning her heart—comes perilously close to being swept away.

A family curse, lost treasure, unrequited love, and a race against time intertwine as Locklyn and Darin seek to save their family, their kingdom, and eventually the entire Undersea Realm without losing each other." - From Amazon.

Book 2: The Locket's Revenge

The cover for the young adult romantasy, The Locket's Revenge written by L.E. Richmond for review on The Shelf Aware Blog

Review

All Locklyn ever wanted was to break her own curse, but the cost may have been too high. Now it's a race to the Lock to recover the locket that has the power to control the Lock Ness Monster and stop the sorceress who would use it to devour the undersea kingdoms.

I snagged the second book on release day and read it in one sitting. It is just as good as the first with the same fantastic world-building, characters, and edge of your seat plot that keeps you turning the pages way after midnight (#midnightbookwyrms).

I did feel like the ending was a little out of nowhere but I really enjoyed the epilogue and how the duology wrapped up. di

A Trinket Could Unleash a Tempest

Locklyn Adair thought that finding the Sea Enchantress would lift her family’s curse. But the ramifications of her desire for a tail reach further than she could ever have dreamed. Now the entire Undersea Realm is in peril, as Circe, armed with the locket capable of controlling the Loch Ness monster, journeys to the North Sea in pursuit of revenge.

Darin Aalto’s specialty is tracking down treasure. When it looks as though a magical locket has fallen into evil hands, he joins Locklyn and her crew on an expedition to recover it, hoping to find a key to his past identity along the way. Despite having no memory of the Mermaid leading the quest, he wonders if she was more than a friend all along.

As a vengeful enchantress, fiery monster, and impending war threaten the Undersea Realm, Locklyn and Darin must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stop the locket’s revenge." - from Amazon
