Seeking Persephone by Sarah M. Eden
Take the tale of Beauty and the Beast set it in Georgian England, add a dash of mystery and all the brooding your heart can handle and you've got this magnificent gem of a story! I saw that it was becoming a movie and had to read it before it released. I'm so glad I did.
Summary:
The ill-tempered Duke of Kielder sends a proposal letter to Persephone's father, setting off a cascade of events that leads to a marriage of two complete strangers. Persephone and Adam have nothing in common, or so they think. Slowly, the Duke begins to thaw toward his kind wife, until danger comes to their door. They'll face threats the same way they face the judgement of the Ton who do not understand Adams' harsh personality, nor the scars that cross his fearsome visage. They'll face it together.
